Basel - The city of culture for connoisseurs

With 40 museums, Basel offers the highest museum density in the country. In addition, Basel has a beautiful old town, modern architecture and the Rhine river, which invites you to linger.

Basel is the oldest university town in Switzerland. Historical landmarks of the city are the large market square with the richly decorated town hall made of red sandstone (see picture), as well as the late Romanesque-Gothic cathedral. During a walk through the old town, past small boutiques, antique bookstores, but also stores of modern designers, it is worth a detour to the "Läckerli Huus" to taste the traditional Basel honey cake.

Nearly 40 museums give the city the highest museum density in the country. Internationally renowned museums, such as the Kunstmuseum Basel (see picture), the museum of the iron sculptor Jean Tinguely, the Fondation Beyeler and the Museum der Kulturen attract visitors, as do numerous galleries and small theaters.
