Darmstadt

As a former ducal seat and today's student city, Darmstadt offers a variety of sights and excursion destinations. In addition to the central Luisenplatz, the Mathildenhöhe with Russian chapel and wedding or five-finger tower (Fünffingerturm), the catacombs or the more than 110-year-old public Art Nouveau bath are worth seeing. In the near vicinity, for example, the Kranichstein hunting lodge or the Herrngarten with Goethe monument or the Prince George Garden in rococo style attract visitors.

On a hill Darmstadt's landmark the Hochzeitsturm towers into the sky. The Mathildenhöhe Artists' Colony, the exhibition buildings, the Wedding Tower, the Artists' Colony Museum and the magnificent artists' houses from the Art Nouveau period give this "hill of muses" its unmistakable flair.

In addition, Darmstadt also has many other sights: the modern science and congress center "darmstadtium" or the State Theater Darmstadt, the colorful "Waldspirale" by Friedensreich Hundertwasser or numerous parks and gardens.

In addition to the well-known museums such as the Hessian State Museum Darmstadt, the Museum Künstlerkolonie Darmstadt or the Schlossmuseum, there is also the museum Jagdschloss Kranichstein, the Grand Ducal Hessian Porcelain Collection or the Kunsthalle Darmstadt as well as other museums and cultural institutions to discover.
