A popular travel destination

The vibrant port city with around 615,000 inhabitants is Denmark's capital and a popular destination for tourists from all over the world. Besides the famous Little Mermaid sculpture, which has been the city's emblem since 1913, visitors are drawn to the Tivoli amusement park, the lively harbour district Nyhavn with its many restaurants and shops, Amalienborg Palace, and the hippie village Christiania.

Copenhagen is full of contrasts. Twisting cobblestone streets, colourful little houses and impressive castles here meet modern architecture, vibrant harbour districts and trendy shopping streets.

Situated directly by the water is the indescribable postcard motif of the city – one of the top Copenhagen attractions, the former Nyhavn commercial harbour.

In the city centre is one of the longest pedestrian zones in Europe. Over a length of nearly one kilometre on the Str53get pedestrian zone, you will find everything your heart desires, from luxury boutiques, world-famous fashion chains to small shops.

The famous R�e5dhuspladsen is one of the top Copenhagen attractions and is located in the Indre By district. After a walk through the pedestrian zone, a stop can be made here.
