Hamburg's nickname "Gateway to the World" is no coincidence: the city combines maritime flair with urban life, diverse districts and numerous sights along the Elbe and Alster.

This vibrant metropolis offers a wide range of cultural and leisure activities, but also captivates with plenty of greenery and above all with water. A dense network of waterways and water surfaces shapes the cityscape and accounts for about eight percent of the urban area. Added to this are around 2,500 bridges – more than in Venice.
